If you experienced a pushy salesperson or technician at your home when you weren’t expecting one, you’re not alone. This happens often and it is called slamming.
- Slamming: a representative for an energy provider (not your current one) comes to your home and switches your electric service without your consent. This happens when they get a look at your bill, along with all the details they need to make the switch.
Here’s what you need to know
We will never send a salesperson to you home. We don’t do any on-the-ground marketing, so if you talked to someone you can be sure it wasn’t us.
Here’s what you need to do
If you experienced this, contact your original REP immediately, as well as your state’s PUC. This practice is illegal in most places and should be reported.
Not sure if this has happened to you?
Check the name of the electric provider listed on your latest bill. Is it the one you signed up for? If not, you may have been slammed.
